Photos for Your Google Business Profile

When people search for a local service, the business profile that shows up on Google is often the first thing they see. Photos are part of that first impression. A profile with clear, recent pictures looks active and cared for, while an empty one can make a business look closed or careless.

For a service business, the most useful photos are simple ones. Show the outside of your building or your vehicles so customers know what to look for when you arrive. Show your team at work, your equipment and your finished jobs. If you work inside people’s homes, ask the customer before taking any pictures, and leave out anything personal, such as house numbers or family photos.

Keep the pictures honest. Use your own photos instead of stock images, and avoid heavy filters or text laid over the image. A customer who sees the real work is more likely to trust what they are paying for. If a photo shows a mess, take another one after the job site has been cleaned up.

It also helps to add new photos from time to time instead of uploading everything at once. A steady trickle of recent pictures shows that the business is still open and busy. Check your profile now and then, too, because customers can add their own photos, and some of them may be blurry or out of date.

Good photos will not fix a profile on their own, but they make every other part of it work better.
